Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Her career began with Broadway career in musicals such as Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. The actress was awarded the Tony Award for Best Featured actress in the Play to play Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford Tony Award winner actor has worked alongside well-known directors and actors for stage productions and on television. She continues this award-winning career by working on new projects. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford has been working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film will be available through Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford, who will appear opposite Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 revival of Stephen Sondheims Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who brought us Hamilton is directing the production. Ashford was Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key characters into the first ever impeachment trial in the United States in more than 100 years. Ashford was a part of two seasons of popular CBS comedy B Positive. It was produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin, Hector Elizondo, and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie on You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Additional Broadway roles for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received an Tony Award nomination. Ashford, who was raised in Denver is now based between Los Angeles and New York.
